It Has Been a Busy Season
This past month has been filled with busy days here on the ranch. We are getting ready for big changes with an extension to get our herd set up with new shelters, complete with an arena for play time. All sorts of great things are coming, stay tuned for that………….
In the meantime, we had to move all the cows around and set up temporary pens while we were extending out the fence lines. This coming week we are getting new shelters delivered. Things will get even busier as we have to cut into the steel containers to create doors, paint, lay stall mats, put up moldings, AND new cattle gates to create their new pen areas.
This past week has been filled with routine deworming the entire herd, hoof trims with Holy Cow Mike, and getting all our friends ear tagged, so people can stop asking their names. We sold both Wyatt and Lucy Anne, which concludes our sales from last season!! Seven sales, we retained one because she was so darn cute, and sadly lost one also. Our final sale was very bitter sweet! We got SO attached to all of our little friends. Bottle feeding them, bathing, brushing, halter training. We spend so much time with them that it is a bit sad when they go.
It is also very exciting to feel the accomplishment of the goal! We started out unsure of how this adventure would go. However each of the calves found a new home, and thankfully each one found an awesome family that was SO excited for their new little family member. We are just feeling really blessed, loving this season of life and grateful that we get to enjoy all the cows and all their pretty babies (even if only for awhile), cow cuddles are the best!
